Even though it appeared that he wasn’t quite paying attention to the game, Kylian Mbappe and his French teammates took a night break from their Euro 2024 qualification schedule to witness France kick off their Rugby World Cup campaign in style.
A few of his countrymen from the French football team cheered on the World Cup hosts as they defeated New Zealand 27–13 to start the tournament off strong.
Mbappe was seen in the crowd with Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann, and Dayot Upamecano, surrounded by jubilant French supporters celebrating the success of their rugby team.
Mbappe appeared to be enjoying himself while taking in the moment, but some of his facial expressions seemed to indicate that he wasn’t entirely familiar with the rules of the game.
Nevertheless, during the opening match of the World Cup at the Stade de France in Paris, the PSG superstar joined his French colleagues in applauding.
Along with the rest of the French team that was present, Mbappe went to the locker rooms after the game to congratulate the team on their triumph.
The 24-year-old was a member of the France team that defeated Ireland 2-0 in their most recent Euro 2024 qualifying match, putting Didier Deschamps on track to make the finals next summer. Twenty-four hours ago.
