The explanation for Jobe Bellingham’s lack of Bellingham on the shirt’s back

Unlike his famous brother Jude Bellingham, Jobe Bellingham’s Sunderland shirt does not have his last name.

The Real Madrid star’s impressive start in Spain has helped him build a stronger reputation, and during the international break, the player shone for England.

He assisted Harry Kane with a goal in his country’s 3-1 triumph against Scotland on Tuesday at Hampden Park.

Jobe, his younger brother, is also making headlines by switching from Birmingham City to Sunderland for an unknown sum.He doesn’t, however, have the Bellingham name on the back of his shirt as Jude does. He’s taken it off and decided to wear his first name and his No. 7 squad number instead.

The 17-year-old is seeking to forge his own identity and does not want to rely on his brother’s name, according to Tony Mowbray, manager of The Black Cats.

He declared, “I believe he’s attempting to forge his own persona. He says, “He doesn’t want to live off the back of his brother’s name; he wants to be the footballer that he is and show people what he can do.”

With a brace in his team’s 2-1 Championship victory over Rotherham, Jobe scored his first goals as a professional.

Mowbray lauded the aspiring midfielder, complimenting him on his passion of the game and way of thinking.

“He’s an absolute diamond,” the veteran manager added: “He just loves football and wants to get better. He tests the coaches every day. He’s got a real growth mindset.

“At 17, it’s unbelievable. Where he can be in five years’ time, I’m not sure, but I’m really pleased with him. His greatest asset is that he wants to learn.”
