In a recent interview, when asked about the strongest player in the Liverpool team, newcomer Alexis Mac Allister gave a surprising answer by not mentioning Virgil van Dijk. Although Van Dijk is known as Liverpool’s number one center-back with his imposing physique and impressive strength, the former Brighton player had a different opinion. Allister believed that Van Dijk didn’t even make the top two strongest players in his view.
According to Allister, the strongest player in Liverpool could be Mohamed Salah or Kostas Tsimikas. This surprised the interviewer as Salah, who stands at 1.75m, topped Allister’s list. Allister further explained that Salah hits the gym every day, making him very strong.
Although it may come as a surprise, if we look at what Salah has shown on the field, we can understand partly the reason. Salah has used his speed, technique, and strength to surpass towering defenders in the Premier League. He is one of the top forwards and has been a fearsome presence for Premier League defenses for many years.
The second case mentioned is left-back Tsimikas. Although he hasn’t had many opportunities to start in Jurgen Klopp’s lineup, it doesn’t mean Tsimikas lacks strength.
Liverpool is having a strong season, and Mohamed Salah remains one of the most important factors in the team under the guidance of manager Jurgen Klopp. The team has overcome difficulties and staged remarkable comebacks, even when trailing or down to 10 men.
After the first 5 matches of the Premier League, Liverpool remains unbeaten with 4 wins and 1 draw, sitting in 3rd place in the standings, just 2 points behind the league leaders, Manchester City.
