Jude Bellingham maintains Real Madrid’s remarkable start, prompting the cries of ‘this is witchcraft’ from the crowd with a last-second goal

JUDE BELLINGHAM continued his legendary start in Spain by scoring in his Real Madrid Champions League debut.

The Brummie got the last word by scoring the winning goal against Union Berlin from one yard out in his maiden outing in the fabled white jersey in Europe’s premier club tournament.

In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the £115 million midfielder scored, making up for an otherwise dismal evening at the Bernabeu.

Since joining from Borussia Dortmund, he has scored six goals in his first six games, further solidifying his cult status among the supporters.

Throughout the entire 90 minutes, the underdog German team, who was playing at this level for the first time, had shown themselves to be resolute opponents, forcing Danish goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow to make many outstanding saves.

Joselu, a Spanish striker assigned the difficult task of trying to succeed Karim Benzema this season, had roughly six opportunities to score.

Ronnow shoved one of those chances onto a post, while Rodrygo’s teammate also saw a shot attempt hit the wall.

In the end, Bellingham, the sixth English player to represent Madrid in either the European Cup or Champions League, was called upon to save the day once more.

And the England pivot took advantage of a rare blunder in the Berlin defense to celebrate one of his early career’s simplest goals.

Federico Valverde delivered a short corner, and it bounced off two Berlin defenders before dropping pleasantly in the path of the former Birmingham City star. Toni Kroos played the short corner.

He broke the Berlin resistance with a single kick of his right foot and celebrated in his trademark way, with his arm outstretched.

Fans found it hard to believe Bellingham had once again delivered the goods for the Spanish giants.

Reacting to the goal, one fan wrote: “Mans living every young boys dream.”

A second commented: “He is inevitable!”

“His movement prior to that first shot is sensational. Makes it look so easy,” remarked a third.

A fourth said: “What a player man!”

While another added: “Bellingham is using witchcraft, he can’t always be on the right spot like that.”

Bellingham, named as man of the match, said: “I’m a confident lad but I really couldn’t have hoped for things to start as well as this in terms of goals.

“We’ve played five in La Liga, one in the Champions League and won all six so we can’t really complain about that.”

He added: “I’m not going to lie, I hope I keep on scoring goals in minute 94 or 95.

“Although it might do my heart, and the club, good to scorer earlier. Coming here has been much, much more than even I’ve ever dreamed of.

“Ever since I can remember watching TV I’ve been watching Madrid and now I’ve worn this shirt and scored for them.”

Following Cristiano Ronaldo (009–10), Isco (013–14), and Marco Asensio (016–17), Bellingham is the fifth player to score in both Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League debuts. The others are Fernando Morientes (1997–98), Cristiano Ronaldo (009–10), and Isco.

After Steve McManaman, David Beckham, Michael Owen, and Jonathan Woodgate, he is the sixth Englishman to score a Champions League goal for the Spanish powerhouses.

Hello Jude, improve this awful match…
