The performance of Ryan Gravenberch in his first start for Liverpool has been captured in a viral video.
The summer transfer window saw the 21-year-old Gravenberch move from Bayern Munich to Liverpool in a deal reportedly worth £38.5 million.
The Dutchman was given his first start against LASK in the Europa League by boss Jurgen Klopp after a brief cameo against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
After Florian Flecker’s breathtaking goal in the 14th minute, Liverpool found themselves behind. Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Mohamed Salah scored goals in the second half to complete a comeback victory of 3-1.
In what was a promising complete debut for his new team, Gravenberch played 74 minutes.
The ex-Bayern Munich player displayed some deft touches and passes while also displaying his strength by fending off challengers while dribbling the ball.
In the 63rd minute, Gravenberch gave his first assist by crossing the ball into the box where Diaz scored.
He eventually picked up what appeared to be an injury and had to leave.
Nevertheless, news that he had to be removed due to cramping has allayed their worries.
Despite this being only his first ever start for Liverpool, it is obvious that he possesses all the necessary skills to blend in seamlessly with Klopp’s midfield.
After the game, Gravenberch told the club’s official website: “I was extremely delighted with the game. We didn’t start so well, but we had the mindset and we turned it around again.
“For myself, it was good, but it was also sloppy sometimes, so I have to work on that, and the rest was OK.”
The midfielder described his contribution to the cause as follows: “I saw the space behind and I saw Harvey [Elliott] got the ball and he played it to me, and I saw Lucho in the corner, so it was a nice cross and he finished it well.”
This weekend, Liverpool will play again in the Premier League when they visit West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday.
