According to Football Insider, Liverpool are interested in signing Andre, a 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder. His club, Fluminense, turned down offers from the Merseysiders throughout the summer because they wanted to keep him until mid-season.
During the summer, Brazilian clubs frequently avoid conducting business with their European rivals. It is especially difficult for a team competing in the Copa Libertadores to keep some of its top players, as Fluminense did.
Fluminense rejected Liverpool’s approach for 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Andre, and the Reds’ bid was turned down. Jurgen Klopp admired him and wanted to bring him to Anfield, but circumstances prevented him from doing so.
Andre has been a regular at Fluminense, appearing in 156 senior matches. He has led his boyhood club to this year’s Copa Libertadores final and will want to end the season on a good note when they face Boca Juniors.
Fluminense will be open to considering a deal with Liverpool during the forthcoming January window and will not stand in the midfielder’s way as they did during the summer. Klopp aims to bring Andre back into his team, as he had previously stated, and there is speculation that the German still has space in his midfield to do so.
Andre also hopes to join Liverpool in January and fulfill his ambition of playing with the Merseysiders. He apparently has a release clause of roughly €40 million, although Fluminense has intimated that a cheaper bid of around €30 million would be acceptable.
If Liverpool goes all-in on another midfielder in January, their interest in Piero Hincapie or any other defensive target Klopp had in mind may be cooled. Many believe that buying a new center-back is critical for the Reds, but for the time being, the manager may focus on finishing his midfield makeover.
Andre’s style will perfectly complement what Liverpool does on the field. His tremendous energy and intensity will benefit Klopp’s ideas and make them a better team. The Merseysiders, on the other hand, are not short of midfielders after signing Wataru Endo instead of Andre throughout the summer.
They also added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominic Szoboszlai to their roster, and Ryan Gravenberch came on deadline day. As a result, Klopp must make a firm decision on Andre, and while he feels compelled to sign the 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder, a central defender should be their top priority in January.
