The Golden Boy award shortlist has been released. The full list has been cut down to 20 names. A player from Europe younger than 21 years old who has been the best in the last 12 months wins the prize.

Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler are two Real Madrid players on the list.

The second player is very good; he joined Xavi’s team a year ago and hasn’t looked back since. There’s a good chance he could win if Bellingham wasn’t on the list. Since his big move to Madrid this summer, the Real Madrid star hasn’t looked back.

Given how good the standards are in La Liga, two out of twenty is not a great showing. However, Bellingham is the clear favorite to win the award and the Ballon d’Or, so the Spanish league can take great pride in that.

They’ve won it three of the last four years, and this will make it four in a row.
