Goncalo Inacio, a target for Manchester United, is being evaluated by scouts sent by Liverpool.
The Reds want to sabotage their opponents in the Premier League in their pursuit of the Sporting Lisbon defender.
Manchester United has long been a fan of the 22-year-old, who has four caps for his nation.
But now, in the run-up to the January transfer window, Liverpool will be a formidable rival.
Jurgen Klopp reportedly dispatched scouts to observe Inacio play for Portugal during the most recent international break, according to The Mirror.
Last week, Liverpool employees saw Portugal defeat Bosnia & Herzegovina 5-0.
Inacio played defense with Ruben Dias of Manchester City and enjoyed a peaceful evening.
It’s also understood that United and Liverpool, who have supposedly previously made an inquiry, are interested, as is Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the article also states that Sporting has no intention of selling Inacio before the summer of 2019.
But according to rumors, his contract has a £52 million release clause, thus the club would not have any say in the matter.
