Erik ten Hag ‘spotting out’ Man Utd employees by putting in long hours at the training facility

Erik ten Hag is surprised the personnel at Manchester United’s training ground by working such long hours.

With five losses in their first 12 Premier League games and danger of elimination from the Champions League, the Red Devils have had a terrible start to the season. Ten Hag has been under criticism because of his team’s terrible performance.

But rather than taking the pressure lightly, the Dutchman is working even harder to get United’s campaign off to a strong start. The United manager has been seen visiting the training facility more frequently after the team’s nine-game losing start to the season.

Ten Hag has begun showing up to the club’s Carrington training camp before seven in the morning, according to The Sun. The kitchen staff and security officers have been taken aback by the Dutchman’s appearance.

After spending a few hours at home in the afternoon, the United manager returned to Carrington until 8.30 p.m. It implies that he has been at the team’s headquarters well after his players have gone back to their homes.

On Saturday, Ten Hag’s efforts paid off as United defeated Luton, giving them much-needed momentum. Throughout his first 50 Premier League games in charge of United, Ten Hag has won thirty of them, which is more than any other manager in the history of the team.

Nevertheless, he was happy to see them recover from their crushing loss to Copenhagen on Wednesday before the international break.

“That is a nice achievement but, in this moment, I can’t do anything with it. I have other concerns. What is important is we are not always playing that well this season but you’ve seen we’re stepping up – in Copenhagen and also this performance, creating a lot of chances,” Ten Hag said.

“I think it gives belief for the future, as I’ve said, that we’re not that far away. So, when we start playing very good football, what this team is capable of, then we are competitive for the top four. I’m convinced of that.

“I’m sure other teams will have their setbacks. We already had a lot of setbacks. We dealt with it and now we have to overcome that and step up. In the last five league games, we won four and it’s not easy to win games in the Premier League because everyone is a battle.

“I’m pleased with that. It is a signal that we are in the right direction. We could have made life easier if we had scored earlier on. We created a lot of chances but it takes a long time to score for the first time and we couldn’t get the second.

“When we are back, we have three big away games and we have to be ready for that. I think we are in a position that’s not too bad, even when we are not playing, since the start of the season, that well. Once we start playing well, and it will come.”
