Manchester United’s alleged pursuit of Brazilian sensation Andre Trindade has been boosted by Real Madrid legend Marcelo’s endorsement. Trindade has shone alongside defender Marcelo for Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense.
Andre’s form in Brazil has piqued the interest of Europe’s top teams. After earning his first two caps for his country this year, he might go to England in January or next summer.
United are apparently seeking to outbid their rivals for the 22-year-old ace. Arsenal, as well as clubs in Spain, are interested in Andre.
The club is looking for a long-term successor for Casemiro, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. The 31-year-old was a revelation at Old Trafford at first, but his form has dropped in recent months.
And United may be persuaded to sign Andre after hearing a great recommendation from five-time Champions League champion Marcelo. Andre received accolades alongside youthful teammates John Kennedy and Matheus Martinelli.
“Three players who caught my attention when I arrived at Fluminense: John Kennedy, Matheus Martinelli, and Andre,” Marcelo told the Charla podcast. “They don’t panic. They get the ball from the defence and dribble away.”
According to reports in Brazil, Andre could be the candidate to replace Casemiro. Andre, by the way, has acknowledged that he looks up to the seasoned United midfielder as a role model.”I was unaware of (United’s interest).” I also don’t believe anything came of it. We’re in November, the Brazilian Championship is coming to an end, and the World Cup is coming up, but I’m extremely delighted,” he stated last week.
“Casemiro is a guy who has a huge career, I try to talk to him a lot when I’m with the national team. He’s a person who gives me a lot of advice, he’s a great leader and all I can do is continue playing well and I’m happy with all these surveys and comments.”
Casemiro’s United future was called into question when he was replaced at halftime during United’s 2-1 victory against Brentford in October. Erik ten Hag claimed he wanted “more football” when asked about Casemiro’s involvement in possession.
“I wanted more football,” Ten Hag said. “One who brings passing, distribution, link-up play. So I thought to bring [on] Christian Eriksen for Case.”
Casemiro has missed five of United’s six games since that encounter due to injury. A projected January move to Saudi Arabia might allow incoming United minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe to bankroll a squad revamp for Ten Hag.
