Pep Guardiola has the WORST record in the history of the Premier League after Haaland’s miss

When it comes to his team’s success with penalties, PEP GUARDIOLA is considered the worst Premier League manager in league history.

Additionally, the specific stat can provide other top-tier managers with a weakness to exploit in upcoming matches.

Only 71% of Guardiola’s team’s penalties found the back of the net, making him the manager in league history with the worst 12-yard success rate.

The unfavorable statistic was confirmed after Erling Haaland missed his penalty attempt against Sheffield United last month.

A penalty shot into the post by the gifted forward that would have given City the lead was missed.

He scored seven out of seven Premier League penalties last season, so this is the first time he has missed one.

Though Haaland made up for his mistake with a goal in the second half, the treble winners were still able to earn all three points. The Blades were able to draw even thanks to Jayden Bogle, but it was Rodri who subsequently smashed the winning goal into the top corner.

Paul Heckingbottom, the manager of Sheffield United, could be wishing his team had given up MORE penalties.

Teams may believe that conceding penalties will help them avoid scoring since Guardiola’s star-studded City team exudes an air of inevitability.

But it’s probable that won’t happen, and the Premier League’s smart management will hunt for more strategically sound ways to thwart the Cityzens.

In the league last year, the Manchester team was awarded 10 penalties, and nine of them were successful.

However, Haaland did score from the penalty spot in City’s 1-0 victory over Fulham, giving him a hat-trick.

Guardiola will believe his penalty conversion rate puts him in elite company, though.
