Mbappe sat on the bench for the entire match, Germany won their first match against France since 2014

In the friendly match between Germany and France, the Tank had a fairly easy 2-1 victory. Notably, they ended their 5-match winless streak in the first match after firing coach Hansi Flick.

Interim coach Rudi Voller has made notable changes in the starting lineup of the German national team when using a 4-2-3-1 formation with Thomas Muller playing highest, Florian Wirtz playing “number 10” while Gnabry and Sane take charge of the two wings.

On the French side, coach Didier Deschamps seemed to just want to test the squad by putting Kylian Mbappe on the bench and using a 4-4-2 formation with Kolo Muani and Griezmann as strikers. Below, Saliba and Todibo are shown side by side.

Germany was the team that took the initiative in the first few minutes and they soon had the opening goal in the 4th minute. Benjamin Henrichs assisted Muller to finish the score. Falling behind, France attacked strongly and forced goalkeeper Ter Stegen to save many times. However, they could not find the equalizer after the first 45 minutes.

Entering the second half, France continued to overwhelm the home team with stormy attacks. However, the German defense still stood firm. Not only that, Germany also had a goal to increase the gap in the 87th minute. Taking advantage of Kounde’s mistake, Havertz played a very good slot for Sane to escape before curling the ball into the far corner to increase the score to 2-0.

In the 88th minute, Sane himself fouled Camavinga in the penalty area and Griezmann made no mistake and defeated Ter Stegen on the 11m mark to shorten the gap to 1-2. However, the remaining time was not enough for France to score more goals.

The result of this match was 2-1 in favor of the German team. They ended a 5-match winless streak and defeated France for the first time in 9 years.
