Man United Set to Be Without Onana and Amrabat for Up to Seven Games in January Due to Force Majeure

Coach Ten Hag is facing a new challenge as the Cameroon team secured a place in the African Cup of Nations. This achievement means that Manchester United will be without the presence of goalkeeper Onana in the near future, including in the upcoming 7 matches. Onana had previously announced his intention to return to international duty for the final qualifying match against Burundi and will compete in the finals in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.

As a result, Coach Ten Hag will need to hold negotiations with Onana regarding his plans for the tournament. If Onana participates in the African Cup of Nations in January, it would leave Ten Hag with only two alternatives for the goalkeeper position: recent signing Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton.

In addition to Onana, midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is also likely to participate in the tournament with Morocco. Although Amrabat had a known back injury during his medical examination with Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, they still decided to sign him, considering it to be a minor issue rather than a serious concern.

The exact timing of Amrabat’s debut match for Manchester United remains uncertain, especially considering the team’s current struggles both on and off the field. Both Amrabat and Onana were brought in by Erik ten Hag during the summer transfer window and were seen as important additions to Manchester United. However, only time will tell whether Ten Hag’s decision to sign his former students will prove successful at the Theater of Dreams.
