JBL and Vivendii are introducing a special fashion collection devoted to delving into the realm of Afrobeats. Vivendii’s Afrobeats Capsule Collection merges their characteristic gradient, tie-dye influenced style with JBL’s vivid, eye-catching colors. It is inspired by traditional Nigerian plastic buckets and bowls, as well as JBL’s signature orange.
The collection includes a t-shirt, tracksuit, jacket, and backpack, as well as a striped football jersey in honor of Virgil van Dijk and the growing popularity of customized jerseys. Special editions of some of JBL’s most popular products, like the JBL PartyBox 310 and JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi, match the clothing collection designs with eye-catching colors.
Why is there such a drop? “Music and fashion are inextricably linked.” Afrobeats encourages young people to express themselves freely, so exploring its music and fashion with our ambassador and Afrobeats lover, Virgil van Dijk, has been a thrilling experience for us. The Vivendii team promotes self-expression and amplifies the voices of sub-genres and cultures through their work. This readily aligns with JBL’s beliefs, making this relationship a perfect fit.” HARMAN Vice President Integrated Marketing EMEA Robert-Jan van Dormael.
“It’s all about the way people express themselves,” Jimmy Ayeni of Vivendii stated. “Every collection we’ve created has a soundtrack, and this collaboration with JBL is no exception.” We attempt to incorporate how we express ourselves musically into fashion.”
Van Dijk is accompanied in this short video by Vivendii founders Jimmy Ayeni and Ola Badiru as they explore the world of Afrobeats, as well as Dutch artist Amartey and Nigerian artist Deto Black, who assist Virgil in delving deeper into the genre.
