Paris Saint Germain (PSG) suffered a big loss when Mbappe left the field after only half an hour of kickoff, but the capital Paris team still easily won 4-0 against Marseille in round 6 of Ligue 1.
After a surprising loss to Nice in the previous round, PSG had to face highly-rated opponent Marseille at home at Parc des Princes. As usual, coach Luis Enrique sent striker Kylian Mbappe to the field from the start.
The Paris team only took 8 minutes to open the score thanks to defender Hakimi’s goal when he had an excellent free kick to beat goalkeeper Pau Lopez. The early goal helped PSG continue to put great pressure on the away team’s goal.
However, in the 32nd minute, striker Mbappe was hurt and had to leave the field with limping steps. The French striker is suspected of having an ankle injury and this is not good news when PSG prepares to have the second match of the Champions League group stage with Newcastle on October 5.
The person who replaced Mbappe was young striker Goncalo Ramos. And just 5 minutes later, PSG doubled the gap. That was the situation in which Hakimi continued to shine by shooting the ball from a distance and hitting the post, allowing striker Kolo Muami to rush in and kick the ball into Marseille’s net.
At the beginning of the second half, the score was 3-0 with a close-range header from Mbappe’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos. The same Portuguese striker then sealed a 4-star victory for PSG in the 89th minute with a quick counter-attack combination with Kolo Muani.
With this victory, PSG is close to the top, only one point behind top team AS Monaco.
