Andre Trindade remains confident of joining Liverpool despite the Reds’ unsuccessful bid for the Fluminense midfielder, according to Anfield Watch.

The Reds, who remain fans of the Brazilian international, had a bid turned down by Fluminense during the summer transfer window.

Similar bids were turned down by Premier League clubs Fulham and West Ham, who wanted to keep Andre for their continuing Copa Libertadores campaign.

Fluminense will compete in the South American equivalent of the Champions League final next month, with the goal of winning the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

The Rio-based team, on the other hand, had always been open to receiving proposals for Andre, but only provided the buying club agreed to postpone his move until the January window, which none of the interested parties were willing to do during the summer.

Andre, according to Anfield Watch, is still interested in a move to Liverpool, but is open to offers from any Premier League club.

Liverpool eventually signed Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart to fill their ‘number six’ berth, but the Japan international turns 31 in February and there may be a desire to find a long-term replacement.

Anfield Watch was told over the summer that Fluminense would let Andre to leave for 80% of his economic rights, including prospective add-ons, for €25 million (£21.5 million), but with the intensity of interest, the asking price is likely to have climbed.

Following the close of the transfer window, Andre spoke to Brazilian media GE Globo about the uncertainty surrounding his future.

“It is evident that receiving bids is usual. “This is especially true with the team performing well, passing the stage at Conmebol Libertadores and being at the top of the Brasileirao,” he remarked.

“Not just for me, but it had to have reached others as well.” I am grateful for the proposals, but my thoughts today are entirely on Fluminense.”
