The under-fire attacker has scored only once this season but there have been signs of him forming a dangerous partnership with Hojlund, after they combined for the Dane’s first Old Trafford goal in the Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.
Hojlund, 20, is convinced that his teammate has what it takes and revealed he has looked up to Rashford since watching him break out at United.
“He is a world-class player. I enjoy playing with him.
“He’s a player I’ve looked up to, even though he’s only a few years older than me. He has done well since he came in as a 19-year-old and scored against Midtjylland. I think he has been a great player ever since, and it is of course great that we are teammates today.”
Hojlund is with Denmark on international duty ahead of Euro 2024 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and San Marino.
He was questioned by the Danish press if he or Rashford is the faster player, and his straight-faced, matter-of-fact response apparently provoked laughter from the assembled journalists.
