Marcus Rashford has responded to reports that his future at Manchester United is in jeopardy.
In the last week, there has been talk of tension between Rashford and United manager Erik ten Hag.
Following last weekend’s 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City, the England striker was obliged to apologize to the Dutchman after attending a nightclub party to celebrate his birthday.
The day after the City game, reports surfaced that Rashford had gone to the Chinawhite nightclub for a pre-arranged birthday party hours after the Old Trafford defeat.
After receiving a “heavy knock” in training, the player was left out of United’s squad for the 1-0 win over Fulham.
Rashford’s absence fueled speculation that the player and Ten Hag are at odds.
Rashford, on the other hand, responded to a tweet from The United Stand, which questioned whether the 26-year-old’s future at the club was in doubt.
On X, formerly Twitter, the United attacker stated flatly, “Please STOP spreading malicious rumours.”
After scoring 30 goals in all competitions last season, Rashford has had a rough start to the season this time around, scoring only once for United.
Ten Hag, on the other hand, has categorically denied that the player does not meet the standards set by the United manager.
In a press conference last week, Ten Hag said. “He’s fitting in [with Ten Hag’s policies]. He’s very motivated to put things right. I know which effort he’s putting in. He’s totally with us.
“He makes a mistake but it doesn’t say he isn’t fitting in. I see him every day, on the training, what he’s doing, I know. Make one mistake. But also, off the pitch what he’s doing, how he lives and I’m sure he’s doing everything right to help the team to perform and to let us win.”
