Following his recent exploits, Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool has been likened to Lionel Messi at his peak.
As part of Liverpool’s massive midfield makeover, Szoboszlai joined the team during the summer transfer window.
Following a series of outstanding performances in the middle of the park, the Hungarian has immediately made an impact.
Szoboszlai’s incredible solo goal during the most recent international break guaranteed Hungary a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The Liverpool player gave an assist and two goals in the 3-2 victory over Montenegro.
He was spotted taking a shot with supporters following the game as the team celebrated their victory.
One of Szoboszlai’s colleagues has now likened him to a peak Messi.
Goalkeeper Denes Dibusz said to INDEX: “You get the feeling about him like when Lionel Messi was at his best at Barcelona a few years ago. When he had a thought, he went down the pitch and scored.
“He is a player of an incredible level and a great leader, who is able to lead the team on the field and add something extra to his game that draws the others along, and is also effective.
Dibusz continued: “After the Bulgaria match, I think he was also a little frustrated that despite his chances, he didn’t manage to score. I think you can be satisfied with your finishes and performance today.”

Szoboszlai will be looking to bring his strong play back to Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp’s team takes on Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With a win this weekend, Liverpool, who is now one point behind City in the standings, hopes to pass Pep Guardiola’s team.
